Pine Haven

Shrill cries echo across the lake

Haunting, piercing.

The Loon calls to its mate,

Then dips its head beneath.

Warm breeze blows,

Windchymes dance.

Never-ending pine trees

Sway reaching to the sky.

Clouds hover

Shielding the force of the sun.

Red maple leaf on white flaps

Guarding steadily.

A hummingbird hovers

Tasting sweet sugar.

The water flows in silence

Splashing a fish jumps.

Her heart pulses, she inhales

Letting go.

And disappears below the freshwater.
