Pine Haven

Shrill cries echo across the lake

Haunting, piercing.

 

The Loon calls to its mate,

Then dips its head beneath.

 

Warm breeze blows,

Windchymes dance.

 

Never-ending pine trees

Sway reaching to the sky.

 

Clouds hover

Shielding the force of the sun.

 

Red maple leaf on white flaps

Guarding steadily.

 

A hummingbird hovers

Tasting sweet sugar.

 

The water flows in silence

Splashing a fish jumps.

 

Her heart pulses, she inhales

Letting go.

And disappears below the freshwater.
